Sadly, Richard Dawkins is an example of someone who had questions but went to the wrong places looking for answers because sometimes we, as Christians, cannot articulate our faith in a way which is pallatable to nonbelievers.
Dan Barker was an evangelical pastor for 19 years who wrote beautiful cantatas who began to have questions and ran into the works of Mr. Dawkins. Having disgarded his faith Dan and his second wife are now the co-presidents of the Freedom From Religion Foundation.
Dawkins rants against God as a petty, jealous bully seem to suggest that he suffered some kind of faith crisis which was not handled properly.
The louder an atheist yells … the more they are vainly attempting to drowned out the convicting voice of the Holy Spirit.
Nothing said here does anything to diminish Dawkin’s premise that religion; that belief in any high authority or author is the residue of time past when illiterate and uneducated masses needed some answers to questions we all ask as children. In medicine and science generally, we are on the cusp of revelations that will make religion and all the deadful control it excercises over simple folk totally irrelevant. There will always be folk who are intellectually incapable of grasping the truth, and I don’t know what they should be led to believe, but based on recent experience, especially the sheer hypocrocy of religious leaders in both catholic and non conformist churches that involve sexual deviance, child abuse and drugs, anything but religion.
I will look to see if this site has the honesty to post this contrary view.
Keep the faith Ted. Richard Dawkins is just a hurt and broken human trying to fit together the pieces of his life. He really doesn’t understand the big picture or the role he is playing in it.
Embrace his role in the big picture and don’t make it personal. God is in control. Richard doesn’t deserve to be judged by any of us for writing and speaking against a meaningful universe.
When you talk about the theory of evolution, you misrepresent the word theory. Please go and look it up. It does not mean that it is a guess, or simply an idea. It is backed up by FACTS. Please go and look at them!
